SEOUL, Oct. 19 (Yonhap) -- Hongseong County in South Chungcheong Province said Monday it will hold the "2026 Hongseong Global Barbecue Festival" for four days starting Oct. 29 around Hongjuseong Fortress.
The festival will feature a variety of barbecue dishes made with local specialties, including Korean beef and pork.
A new barbecue cooking apparatus, standing 5.4 meters tall and modeled after Hongseong Sky Tower, one of the county's major tourist attractions, will make its debut this year.
The apparatus will grill meat by rotating it with eight motors installed at the bottom.
Other unusual cooking apparatuses modeled after attractions such as a Ferris wheel, carousel and Viking ride will also be used to serve a variety of barbecue dishes.
A barbecue market operated by the Hongseong Pork Association and the Hongseong County Saemaeul Women's Association, as well as a "Hongseong Food Zone" run by local restaurants, will also be set up.
Twenty-five local companies and organizations will contribute donations to help ensure the successful hosting of the festival.
"We will prepare thoroughly so visitors can safely enjoy a rich and entertaining festival," Hongseong County Gov. Park Jeong-ju said.
