BUSAN, Oct. 27 (Yonhap) -- Busan City will hold a meeting of its safety management committee Tuesday to review safety measures ahead of the Busan Fireworks Festival, which is expected to draw more than 1 million people on Nov. 7.
The meeting will be attended by around 40 safety management committee members, including Mayor Jeon Jae-soo, heads of disaster management agencies and private-sector fireworks experts. They will review the festival's safety management plan and strengthen the cooperation system.
The meeting will cover measures in various areas, including the operation of the comprehensive situation room, visitor safety, public transportation, firefighting and maritime safety management.
The city will deploy more than 7,000 safety and crowd-control personnel at the event venue, including Gwangalli Beach, the largest deployment in the festival's history.
The city will monitor closed-circuit television footage from cameras installed throughout the event area in real time and manage visitor flows in major viewing areas, including Gwangalli Beach, Geumnyeonsan Mountain, the waterfront park, Yongho Starlight Park, Igidae Eoumadang and Dongbaek Island.
"Please remain vigilant and do your utmost in on-site response until every citizen has safely returned home," Mayor Jeon Jae-soo told the relevant agencies.
