SEOUL, Mar. 8 (Yonhap) -- The Korea Tourism Organization has unveiled the official logo of the 2023-2024 Visit Korea Year.
The “Visit Korea Year” program, which returned after the last 2016-2018 program for the first time in five years, kicked off with the release of the logo on Wednesday. The following program has been planned and carried out in order to promote Korea as a travel destination.
The new logo features the English characters of “Visit Korea Year” written with hanbok (traditional Korean clothes) patterns, along with a traditional Korean hat, Gat.
This traditional hat worn by men along with hanbok during the Joseon period, which was usually made from horsehair with a bamboo frame, has become internationally recognized by appearing in a slew of music videos of K-pop superstars and Netflix’s first original Korean series “Kingdom.” It has made itself known to the point of appearing as a fashion item in overseas fashion shows.
“Gat symbolizes the beauty of Korean tradition that transcends time,” an official from the Korea Tourism Organization said. “This year’s logo is an invitation to international K-culture fans to visit Korea where tradition and modernity blend in and harmonize.”
These brand images, including the official logos, slogans, and mascots, can be downloaded for free from the Korea Tourism Organization’s official website.
