Eurasian Spoonbills appears in Gapcheon Stream of Daejeon again

Seoul December (Yonhap) -- Eurasian Spoonbills which were located at Gapcheon Stream in Daejeon during the winter of 2021 has been spotted once again.

According to the statement released by the Daejeon EKfem on Wednesday, throughout the process of monitoring the Gapcheon Stream, 100m down from the Wonchongyo Bridge two Eurasian Spoonbills were spotted.

Eurasian Spoonbills are classified as the natural monument (205-2) and under the protection because they are classified as endangered species.

Often times the Eurasian spoonbills use their long spoon like beak to eat or hunt for its food throughout streams or swamps.

Although majority of the Eurasian Spoonbills are stationed widely throughout Eurasian continent, it is very hard to locate on in South Korea. Only 200 or the species are accounted for in Korea.
