SEOUL, October 27 (Yonhap) --  The ferry service, which travels between Busan and Tsushima Island, will be back on track soon.

Panstar Group announced on October 26 that it will launch a new passenger ship, "Panstar Tsushima Link," on the Busan-Tsushima Island route.

The 684-ton Tsushima Link ship is a high-speed ship with a maximum speed of 40 knots and a capacity of 425 passengers.

In the early stages of service, the Hitakatsu route to Busan and Tsushima Island will be operated, and it will be expanded to Izuhara later.

When passenger ships resume operations between Korea and Japan, they will return once a day during the week and twice on weekends.

Panstar will provide differentiated services, including sales of popular Japanese mainland products that are not available on Tsushima Island at duty-free shops on board.

The number of travelers who visit Tsushima Island by boat from Busan has increased rapidly every year until COVID-19.

However, following the boycott of travel to Japan in 2019, all passenger ships have been suspended since April 2020, when COVID-19 entered the pandemic.

Kim Bo-joong, the director of Panstar, said, "We will receive pre-reservations from November ahead of the start of the operation," He added, "Panstar is expected to resume operations as soon as regulations on passenger ships are lifted following flights that are allowed to enter without visas."
