SEOUL, May 2 — K-pop girl group (G)I-DLE will officially change their name to "I-DLE," dropping the parenthetical “(G)” from their name, their agency Cube Entertainment announced.
On May 1, the group unveiled their new name via their official social media channels, removing the gendered prefix. The group has promoted under the name (G)I-DLE since their debut in May 2018.
Cube Entertainment stated, “We have redefined the group’s identity as one that transcends gender. Fans can expect even more boundary-breaking music and concepts.”
Celebrating their 7th anniversary this year, I-DLE has earned widespread popularity with hit songs such as "LATATA," "TOMBOY," and "Queencard."
