SEOUL, Dec. 27 (Yonhap) --Miryang city has declared 2023 as the "Year of Visit Miryang."

Miryang city held proclamation ceremony "2023 Year of Visit Miryang" at Westin Josun Hotel in Seoul on Monday.

Around 200 people including officials from tourism industries, reporters, and public figures from Miryang attended the ceremony.

Kim Sung-gyu, a deputy mayor of Mirayang, stood up on the stage to introduce "charming city for tourism" Miryang and declared 2023 to be the year of visit Miryang.

Miryang city is promoting year of visit Miryang to let the whole nation know the tourism base of Yeongnam region, Miryang city, where historical cultures and natural environments are present.

Around 14.5 million people visited Miryang this year.

The city revealed their goal of bringing over 16 million visitors next year.

Miryang city, where Yeongnamnu Pavillion, known as one of the three greatest palace of Joseon Dynasty, and Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, Miryang Arirang exist, is where history and tradition live.

With its natural environment centered on Yeongnam Alps, the city has a high potential to become a tourism city.
