SEOUL February 23 (Yonhap) -- Seo-gu district located within Incheon City addressed on Thursday that they will be building a memorial stone in commemoration of one year since the passing of first minister of the Ministry of Culture, Lee O-young.
Seo-gu will be showcasing the Jeongseojin Noeuljong Memorial Stone for the first time on February 28, in front of the family members of the former minister of the Ministry of Culture, Lee O-young.
Former minister Lee O-young was the one to name the sculpture Noeuljong which serves as a representative figure of the area in the past
In 2012 when Seo-gu came up with a structure which is 21.1 meters wide and 13.5 meters high which has the external features that look similar to a bell, former minister Lee received an offer asking to named the structure. He named the sculpture Noeuljong with the idea of “Enveloping contradictions and confrontations.”
Former minister Lee wrote a poem based on the Jeongseojin Noeuljong.
Jeongseojin is a very popular tourist spot during the end of the year due to its lovely scenery of the sunset, Jeongseojin has a meaning of a port located in the western point of Korea which one can travel from Gwanghwamun.
Mayor of Seo-gu addressed “Former minister Lee O-young who is one of the representing figure of the intellects within our generation has been there since the day one of Jeongseojin” adding “In commemoration of one year since the passing of Lee O-young we have decided to build a memorial stone with his poem carved into it.”
