JEJU, Dec. 29 (Yonhap) -- K-pop superband BTS’s member Jimin visited the Nuwemaru Street in Jeju Island and drew global attention.

Jimin posted a photo of him visiting Nuwemaru Street, located in Jeju Yeondong, on Dec. 25, on his Instagram.

Over 10 million fans liked the photo of Jimin, wearing a black coat and a black hat, and posing in front of the photo zone.

South Korean fans and ARMYs around the world including the United States, Japan, China, Indonesia regrammed the post and some visited the street and posed in the same spot as Jimin.

Nuwemaru Street, known as the “Little China in Jeju,” changed its name from Baozen Street in 2018 because its area looked similar to Nuegochi, which means cocoon in Korean.

The street has put up a Christmas tree and a photo zone to celebrate the holidays. The photo zone was initially planned to open until the end of the year but will likely continue to remain.

“We believe that Jimin’s visit will help activate our local economy and also contribute to cultural exchange,” explained the official from Jeju Tourism Organization.
