NCSoft's latest MMORPG 'Lineage W' exceeds 2 mln preorders in 15 hours

SEOUL, Aug. 20 (Yonhap) -- Video game developer NCSoft has recorded more than two million global preorders for its new multi-platform MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing game) "Lineage W."

The global preorder period for "Lineage W" began at 10 a.m. on Aug. 19 and surpassed 2 million orders fifteen hours later at 1 a.m. on Friday. This marks the shortest period for any MMORPG to reach the record, according to NCSoft.

"Lineage W" is a game that aims to promote the authenticity of the existing "Lineage" series and target the global game market.

The biggest feature provided in "Lineage W" is that users from various countries can gather in a single "battlefield" (server) and enjoy cooperation and competition between each other. It also has a fierce action system along with full 3D graphics, and story lines that increase the game's immersive nature.

NCSoft is planning to release "Lineage W" to global markets by the end of this year.
