SEOUL, Oct. 28 (Yonhap) -- A special music video featuring the Smurfs in Seventeen’s hit song “God of Music” will be released next month, the group’s agency Pledis Entertainment said Tuesday.

The collaboration with the Smurfs, created by Belgian cartoonist Pierre Culliford (known as Peyo) in 1958, marks a playful crossover between the K-pop group and the iconic global characters.

A teaser posted on the official Smurfs YouTube channel on Oct. 23 showed silhouettes of 13 new Smurf characters set to the melody of “God of Music.”

According to Pledis, the collaboration was inspired by the fact that both “God of Music” and the Smurfs share the same release date — Oct. 23 — and reflect similar values of coexistence and harmony.

Smurf characters modeled after Seventeen members will also appear in upcoming merchandise. Each character combines the Smurfs’ signature blue skin, small stature and magical traits with Seventeen’s individual personalities.

Seventeen has previously launched several successful collaborations with popular character brands, including Sanrio and Bearbrick in Japan and Teddytales in China.
