SEOUL, May 24 (Yonhap) -- A number of S. Korean vocal groups known as the 'hit song makers,' are set to release their new albums for the first time in years.

Female vocal group Big Mama will drop a new song next month in which all the original members gathered together for the first time in nine years and participated in the production. Kakao Entertainment unveiled their new logo on the 24th signaling their comeback.

It is the first time Big Mama will release a new song since the digital single "Cleaning out the drawer" came out in 2012.

The four-member-group--Shin Yeon-ah, Lee Ji-young, Lee Young-hyun and Park Min-hye--debuted in 2003 with "Break Away."

Based on their outstanding singing ability and harmony, the group has made several hits, including "After Giving Up," "Refusal, Rejection," "Monologue," and "Woman."

On a recent episode of MBC's reality show "Hangout with Yoo," Big Mama's "Resignation" was selected as a contest song for the project boy group "MSG Wannabe," which brought attention to the song.

2AM, a K-pop ballad and idol group, is also expected to release new music with all the members.

Each of the four members, Jo Kwon, Lee Chang-min, Lim Seul-ong and Jeong Jin-woon, recently announced that they are discussing a possibility of releasing a new album this fall.

It was reported that Culture Depot, famous for managing actresses such as Jun Ji-hyun, Seo Ji-hye and Kim So-hyun, will lead the production of the album.

If 2AM releases an album as scheduled, it will be the first album to come out in seven years since the group's third full-length album "Let's Talk" released in October 2014.

2AM debuted in 2008, the same year boy band 2PM started their careers as idols. Both K-pop groups were organized by JYP Entertainment.

Many ballad songs released by 2AM such as "This Song," "Never let you go," "You Wouldn't Answer My Calls," and "I Wonder If You Hurt Like Me" have become successful in Korea.

Since the expiration of the member's exclusive contracts with JYP Entertainment in 2015, some people suspected the group to have disbanded. However the members denied the rumors and recently shown their solidarity as a group by uploading photos of the four members together.
