
Remains of Korean independence fighter laid to rest
An honor guard of the Army carries South Korean flag-draped boxes containing the excavated remains of six Korean independence fighters during an enshrinement ceremony for their remains at the National Cemetery in Seoul on Aug. 13, 2025, one day after the remains of the independence fighters, who had been buried abroad, returned home ahead of Liberation Day marking Korea's independence from Japanese colonial rule (1910-45).
