S. Korea begins cash handouts to all citizens
People wait in line to apply for cash handouts, called "consumption coupons," from the government in the southeastern port city of Busan on July 21, 2025. As part of a government initiative aimed at stimulating domestic consumption, all South Korean citizens residing in the country as of June 18 will receive a one-time payment of 150,000 won, with additional targeted assistance to be provided based on income levels.
