Police release mug shot of suspect accused of killing woman
CHUNCHEON, South Korea, Nov. 13 (Yonhap) -- Police on Wednesday disclosed the photo and identity of a murder suspect, an active-duty Army officer who is accused of alleged murder and dismemberment of a fellow military employee.
The suspect, identified as 38-year-old Yang Kwang-jun, is an Army lieutenant colonel and is accused of allegedly strangling the victim, who he was dating at the time, to death during a wrangle in his car at their unit's parking lot on Oct. 25.
Yang is also accused of allegedly dismembering and abandoning the victim's body in a river in Hwacheon, Gangwon Province, 88 kilometers northeast of the capital, the next day.
Yang was arrested earlier this month after a resident found body parts floating in the river and reported to police.
The victim was a civilian military employee who worked at the same unit in the Cyber Operations Command in Gwacheon, south of Seoul.
