Presidential Security Services block investigators' attempt to raid computer server

SEOUL, Dec. 18 (Yonhap) -- Presidential Security Services (PSS) has blocked a joint investigation team's attempt to raid a computer server related to President Yoon Suk Yeol's martial law declaration, citing the protection of confidential military information, the team said Wednesday.

Investigators unsuccessfully attempted to access the security service headquarters, located within the presidential compound in Yongsan, to retrieve computer servers containing call history from a secure phone used by the national police chief, Cho Ji-ho, among other data.

The PSS informed the investigation team that access was denied due to legal restrictions on classified information stored in the server, the team said.

Cho, commissioner general of the National Police Agency, has been under arrest on charges of ordering police officers to the National Assembly to block lawmakers from voting down Yoon's martial law decree on Dec. 3

Cho has reportedly claimed Yoon called him by phone six times to order the arrest of lawmakers.
