SEOUL, Dec. 15 (Yonhap) -- The speaker of the National Assembly on Sunday urged acting President Han Duck-soo for the government and the parliament to work together to overcome the political turmoil after President Yoon Suk Yeol was impeached.

National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-shik made the call as he met Han a day after the National Assembly voted to impeach Yoon over his failed bid to impose martial law on Dec. 3.

"The government and the National Assembly must make efforts and work together to overcome this crisis," he said.

Meanwhile, Han said the government will make all of its decisions based on the Constitution, the law and the future of the country, and vowed a "swift" resolution of the current situation, according to his office.
