SEOUL, June 2 (Yonhap) -- K-pop girl group Mamamoo
is raising anticipation for its new mini-album "WAW," which includes
only ballad songs, that will be released at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
The members of Mamamoo expressed their
opinions on the album, saying, "It's our first time releasing an album filled
only with ballad tracks," adding, "We're looking forward to showing everyone
the harmony and chemistry that have been growing steadily within our group in a
mature way."
"Since 'WAW' is a ballad album, we
paid a lot of attention to our individual vocals and tried hard to make it fit
well together as a whole."
"We're all looking forward to showcase
our own voices and we hope Moomoo can enjoy listening to our summer ballad,"
Mamamoo said, referring to the act's fan base called Moomoo.
The theme of the EP is also worth
mentioning. In addition to celebrating Mamamoo's seventh debut anniversary, "WAW"
was also centered around the question of where the members stand as artists.
The four-piece-act said, "(The title track)
Where Are We Now" tells the story of our past, present, and future days to
come."
"We recommend everyone to listen
carefully with the lyrics because the message in this track does not only
reflect Mamamoo's story and everyone can relate to it," the K-pop act
said.
Referring to the title track's lyrics,
"One day during a long trip," Mamamoo said, "We're grateful to
be able to spend this journey with each other and our fans. We think we've
experienced a lot of things that couldn't be done alone."
Mamamoo has been planning to hold a summer
concert and drop a documentary while preparing for "WAW."
"We are in the production of making our documentary, so we expect everybody will be able to watch it soon. We are currently preparing various things for everyone to enjoy when the pandemic ends. We're aiming to release everything this summer, so please look forward to it," said Mamamoo.
