Military personnel, ambulances deployed at plane crash-landing site in Muan
SEOUL, Dec. 29 (Yonhap) -- About 180 military personnel, firefighting vehicles and ambulances were mobilized to cope with a deadly passenger plane crash-landing at an airport in the nation's southwest county of Muan, the defense ministry said Sunday.
Authorities said at least 62 people were dead after the plane with 181 on board veered off the runway while landing and collided with a fence at Muan International Airport, about 288 kilometers southwest of Seoul.
The ministry said it deployed medical and rescue personnel as well as other resources at the airport.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff also said it has provided all available resources for rescue operations.
