Nov. 19 (Yonhap) --
According to Netflix’s official site Tudum on Wednesday, the series logged 7.8 million views from Oct. 10–16, topping both English and non-English shows combined.
Views are calculated by dividing total viewing hours by running time.
The series ranked No. 1 among non-English shows in 20 countries, including Bolivia, Chile, Egypt, the Philippines, Vietnam and South Korea.
“As You Stood By” stars Lee Yoo-mi and Jeon So-ni and is based on Japanese novelist Hideo Okuda’s work “Naomi and Kanako.”
It follows Jo Eun-su (Jeon), who lives with trauma from her father’s domestic violence, and Jo Hee-su (Lee), who suffers abuse from her husband, as they conspire to commit murder.
Released on the 7th, the show ranked eighth in its first week among non-English series but climbed to the top spot in week two through word of mouth.
In the non-English show category, SBS’s new Wednesday-Thursday drama “Kiss Me If You Dare!” ranked third with 6.1 million views, and the variety program “Physical: Asia” ranked eighth with 2.5 million views.
