SEOUL, June 8 (Yonhap) -- Group BTS' J-Hope has been chosen as the headliner of "Lollapalooza" Chicago,  one of the biggest music festivals in North America, which will be held from July 28th to 31st (local time). 
J-hope has been announced as a headliner along with the band Green Day and rapper The Kid Laroi on July 31st, according to Lollapalooza's official Instagram, Wednesday.
Lollapalooza introduced J-Hope by saying, "His performance will make history, cementing him as the first South Korean artist to headline a main stage at a major U.S. music festival." 
This is the first time a member of the supergroup BTS, which has emerged as a world star, will participate as a solo at a big music festival. 
In this year's Lollapalooza, one of the biggest music festivals in the world, BTS's junior group Tomorrow X Together (TXT) will also perform on June 30th. 
Perry Farrell, creator of Lollapalooza said, "J-Hope and TXT are the superstars of the global phenomenon of K-pop," adding, "We are so excited to have them at this year’s festival.”
