K-drama 'A Tour Guide for Hire' to air on Japan’s NHK next month

SEOUL, Dec. 18 (Yonhap) -- The Korean drama “A Tour Guide for Hire” will meet Japanese viewers in January next year.

Production company Big Ocean ENM said on the 18th that the drama will air on Japan’s NHK channel starting Jan. 8.

Based on the novel of the same name by Japanese author Maha Harada, the series follows a travel reporter who journeys on behalf of others and comes to realize the meaning of life along the way. It stars Gong Seung-yeon, Kim Jae-young and Yoo Jun-sang.

The drama previously aired in South Korea on Channel A in August this year.

A production official said, “As the original novel already has a strong fan base in Japan, we hope the NHK broadcast will deliver warm comfort and empathy to local viewers.”
