SEOUL, July 15 (Yonhap) -- Crop tops, which were the icons of '80-90s fashion, is back in style for the thriving retro trend.
The belly-baring crop tops is being reinterpreted and released in various types of clothing, such as t-shirts, jackets, shirts, and jumpers, within the fashion industry this year, according to South Korean lifestyle company Shinsegae International on Thursday.
Shinsegae International's women's clothing brand "Voice of Voices (VOV)" released 12 different kinds of cropped outerwear this spring, and nine of them were reordered. The brand's popular crop short-sleeved jacket was sold out after going through three reorders.
In addition, the online brand "Vpplement" has released 90 percent of its summer top products with short waist lengths. Vpplement also diversified the style of its bottom products in order to match the crop tops.
An online exclusive brand "10Month" released a pantsuit, consisting of a minimal crop jacket with Bermuda pants, in June which sold out within days.
An official from Shinsegae International said, "The crop top style is receiving a particularly good response from the MZ generation (people born in the 1980s and 2000s) because it makes the customers' legs look longer and is easy to match with various fashion items."
