New braille book about national monuments features Son Heung-min and Song Joong-ki's voices

SEOUL, Oct. 8 (Yonhap) -- To celebrate “White Cane Day” on Oct. 15, the National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage has newly produced multimedia braille book introducing 70 animal species designated as the national monuments. The contents will be delivered via braille and voice, said the institute Friday.

White Cane Day was designated by the National Federal of the blind to ensure the rights of the blind in 1980.

The Institute produced 450 copies of braille books about the animals designated as the national monuments last year and issued 570 copies of the book this year. Actor and actress Lee Byung-hun and Han Ji-min took part in the book’s recording. The copies will be given out to 221 children attending 13 schools for the blind and to the blind studying in ordinary elementary schools for free.

Soccer player Son Heung-min recorded for the golden eagle’s episode for the newly edited and copied book. Also, for falcon and musk deer, owl’s episode they have added an AI technology to actor Song Joong-ki’s contributed recorded voice.

They have put in the users’ feedbacks to heighten the braille’s height and simplify the specified images as well. They also added braille explanation about using a sound-pen.

AIA Group has financed 50 million won for the braille books’ production based on the number steps recorded on their app “AIA Vitality X T Health Routine” (translated) co-operating with SK C&C.
