SEOUL, Sept. 25 (Yonhap) -- Hybe America, the U.S. subsidiary of K-pop powerhouse Hybe, said Thursday it has finalized the cast and begun shooting for a live-action K-pop film co-produced with U.S. studio Paramount Pictures.
The cast includes actors Sung Joon, Kang So-ra, Lee Hyung-chul, Renata Vaca and Celia Kapsis. Earlier this month, Yoo Ji-tae, Tony Revolori and Gia Kim also confirmed their participation.
Actors Yoo Ji-young, who voiced Joy in the animated film "K-pop Demon Hunters," and singer-actor Eric Nam will play the lead roles.
The film, scheduled for theatrical release in February 2027, began its first shoot in Seoul on Sept. 21. All scenes will be filmed in South Korea, with locations including Seoul, Incheon, Gimpo, Paju and Gapyeong.
Directed by Benson Lee, who previously helmed the Cha In-pyo starrer "Seoul Searching," the movie follows a Korean-American girl who pursues her dream of joining a K-pop girl group despite her family’s opposition.
