IMSIL, July 29 (Yonhap) -- Osu Pet Memorial Park, which has various facilities such as pet funeral halls and crematoriums, will open on August 1.

Imsil County, North Jeolla Province, announced Thursday that it has spent 5 billion won on a 30,000㎡ site in Geumam-ri, Osu-myeon.

Although there are a number of private pet funeral halls in Korea, Osu Pet Memorial Park is the first for a local government to create a public pet funeral hall, supported by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

The memorial park has three crematoriums for pets, as well as shrouds and coffins, along with veterinary practices, and coffins, as well as charnel houses and woodland burials.

In addition, a memorial hall, an entrance room, an observation room, and a funeral hall are set up for the guests.

Four funeral instructors will be managing the memorial park and conduct funeral procedures at the Osu Pet Memorial Park, which has been granted permission to bury animals.

In particular, Osu Pet Memorial Park also provides consulting services related to funerals for pets for owners who are suffering from the loss of their pets.

In addition, it will run various programs to help treat owners who are emotionally suffering due to the loss of a pet.

Osu-myeon, where the memorial park is built, is a place where the story of the loyal dog who saved his owner who was trapped in flames originated.

Prior to the official opening, the military will hold an opening ceremony on July 30. The ceremony will be attended by Imsil county governor Shim Min, the Korea Animal Funeral Association, and other officials.
