SEOUL, Oct. 21 (Yonhap) -- Actor Lee Yi-kyung has announced plans to take legal action over recent online rumors regarding his personal life.
Lee’s agency, Sangyoung ENT, said Tuesday, “We are preparing legal measures in response to the spreading of false information and malicious rumors circulating on online communities and social media.”
The agency continued, “Given the seriousness of the situation, we will assess the extent of both direct and indirect damages caused by the spread of falsehoods and take all possible actions. Writing, posting, or sharing unverified claims will also be subject to legal consequences, so we ask everyone to refrain from unnecessary involvement that could result in harm.”
The statement follows a post uploaded the previous day on an online community in which the author, identified as “A,” claimed to have exchanged private messages on social media with a man allegedly saved under the name “Actor Lee Kyung.” The post suggested the man was Lee Yi-kyung.
Lee made his film debut in “White Night” (2012) and has since appeared in a number of popular dramas, including “Descendants of the Sun,” “Go Back Couple,” “Welcome to Waikiki,” “Partners for Justice,” and “Marry My Husband.”
He has also been active in variety shows such as MBC’s “Hangout with Yoo” and SBS Plus and ENA’s “I Am Solo.”
