SEOUL, Oct. 28 (Yonhap) -- Salmon festival, one of Yangyang county's main festivals, has begun on Friday.

This festival with the slogan "Salon, Cherish a hope" (translated) will be held for three days unitul Oct. 30.

The festival could not take take place since 2019 due to COVID-19.

However, since social distancing has been removed, it properly kicked off this year.

Hosting the event, Yangyang Cultural foundation has prepared various programs that focus on food tasting and experience, not performances.

Catching salmon with bare hands, followed by Salmon dish and wine tasting, and salmon run challenge etc. will be available for visitors.

In order to highlight its image as live animal festival, tour program, collaborated with East Sea live animal data center, to listen to the life and spawning process of salmon and experience will occur.

Festival's main event, Catching salmon with bare hands event will happen 10 times in total and firework festival will take place at the main event hall, riverside of Namdae stream on Saturday evening.

Food Zone to try out salmon dishes, beach market, beach market along with regional product market, and exhibition will happen as well.
