Presidential office denies involvement in drone infiltration to Pyongyang
SEOUL -- The presidential office denied Thursday the opposition's claims that the National Security Council (NSC) had ordered the military to send a drone into North Korea last year.
Lawmakers of the main opposition Democratic Party (DP) claimed that a senior NSC official directly ordered the Drone Operations Command to infiltrate Pyongyang with a drone last October.

N. Korea's missile launch this week shows where 'blood' money ends up: Seoul envoy
WASHINGTON -- North Korea's ballistic missile launch this week shows where its "blood" money ends up, South Korea's top envoy to the United Nations said Wednesday, accusing the recalcitrant regime of sacrificing its own people for its nuclear ambitions.
Ambassador Hwang Joon-kook made the remarks during a U.N. Security Council meeting on the North's launch Monday of a claimed intermediate-range hypersonic missile, as he cited Seoul's assessment that the regime has suffered at least 1,100 troop casualties during combat in Ukraine.

N. Korea shows no signs yet of special designation for leader Kim's birthday: Seoul
SEOUL -- North Korea has shown no signs of officially celebrating leader Kim Jong-un's birthday, which falls this week, despite recent efforts to solidify his authority independent of his father and grandfather, South Korea's unification ministry said Monday.
The assessment came amid growing speculation that North Korea may soon officially designate Kim's birthday, known to be Jan. 8, for special celebrations as part of its glorification campaigns for the leader.
