Presidential office holds meeting to discuss Trump tariffs
SEOUL, Feb. 3 (Yonhap) -- The presidential office held a meeting of senior officials to discuss ways to address U.S. President Donald Trump's sweeping tariffs on three of its biggest trading partners, a senior presidential official said Monday.
The presidential office, led by the office for economic affairs, discussed Trump's recent decision to impose additional tariffs on Mexico, Canada and China and reviewed response measures, the official told Yonhap News Agency via phone.
The meeting took place amid mounting worries over a global trade war following Trump's announcement.
The officials are also said to have discussed DeepSeek, a Chinese artificial intelligence (AI) startup that recently sent shock waves through the global tech market with its new AI model.
